The hot extrusion process
offers advanced technology at a competitive cost
and can offer the following advantages:
- Complex solid or hollow
shapes can be produced which cannot be manufactured
by alternative methods e.g. hot rolling or welded
assemblies
- Tooling costs are
low and make it possible for trial quantities of
sections to be produced without incurring very
high costs
- Small quantities,
down to 2 metric tons or even less, can be economically
produced
- Delivery times are
often far shorter than alternative processes
- Sections can be produced
from some special steels that are not suitable
for conversions by other methods.
